As of Tuesday May 19th we pleased to let you know that we are able to resume normal operations.  We have been planning for this day since the state of emergency was declared and are happy to be able to offer a broader range of services once again.  We will be prioritizing booking of urgent cases that were postponed due to the pandemic.  As a result the wait times for referrals will be longer than usual.  We appreciate your patience during this time.  Please do not bring your pet to the OVC HSC without prior approval so we can ensure they can be cared for safely.

Our telehealth platform is operational and we will continue to see as many cases through this means as possible so we can care for your animals safely.  For the time being we will continue to limit access to our building so when you arrive for your appointment you will be directed to call and let us know you are here so we can pick up your animal.  We kindly ask you remain in your vehicle so we can facilitate appropriate physical distancing.

The OVC Health Sciences Centre continues to take precautions to protect our staff, graduate students and clients from exposure to the COVID-19 virus and steps to manage our resources.

Thank you

Dr. Stephanie Nykamp, Associate Dean Clinical Program

How is the Ontario Veterinary College and University of Guelph helping our human healthcare partners in this time of need:

The Ontario Veterinary College is completing an inventory of items available that may be of assistance (masks, gloves, swabs, testing reagents). We have also made the local public health unit aware of equipment we have that may be helpful (ventilators, high flow oxygen, etc.).

The University of Guelph is working closely with the Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health Unit to coordinate and properly channel all equipment and supply needs.

OVC is happy to be able to provide this support to the front line healthcare teams caring for people during this time of incredible effort and need.
